Trying to Save Catalina
I live about as close to Santa Catalina Island as the mainland gets. 19 nautical miles away. I have VERY fond memories of Catalina Island. I love to take my parents there and I love to just go for the day and walk around.
Last November, Dad and I went for a trip thru the heart of the island. It was an amazing trip! We saw bison, deer and other strange creatures (people included). I had always wondered what the island looked like after you got past the main part of Avalon. This trip showed us what the island as a whole looked like. It was simply one of the best trips I have ever taken. Now, most of what we saw is gone.
This is the second time Dad has come to California and we have gone on a trip to see something and then it caught on fire. The other time was the glass bottom boat in the Balboa Harbor. The week after we saw it, it was destroyed by fire.
While I'm sure Catalina Island will recover....I hope the people will be okay.
