Fore!!!!!

I have now decided to take up golf. For years I have agreed with Mark Twain who's definition of golf is "A good walk spoiled." Well it isn't a good walk spoiled if you rent the cart :)

Now, let's be real. I went to the driving range on Tuesday and Wednesday and played 9 holes on Thursday. I'm not good. I should barely be allowed on a course but I stepped up to the first tee and "SMACK" the ball is in the air and then I begin yelling "Fore!".

I read the book of etiquette for golf. I read the rules. I knew what to yell.....but then it seemed so surreal to see the ball you hit flying thru the air at another human being. She wasn't harmed. In fact, it wasn't that close to her at all. 9 holes later, three golf balls later (watch out for the lake on the 7th hole), I had finished my first game. It was a blast. I shot a 67 (on a par 36). It was horrible. I definitely didn't follow the rules. If I would have, it would have been 100+ for sure.

I had a great time. That was all that matters. I am going to get fitted for clubs this weekend. I plan to begin lessons next weekend. 3 more days at the driving range and another game Thursday night -- hopefully I'll do better.
